I can't believe I'm actually doing this.  It's ten thirty on a Sunday night and I need to get to bed!  But I am bored and need something to do since I probably won't be able to sleep anyway.  The last post I did was in November and it was on my Jeep.  Well, Julius is currently under the surgery knife.  He has been for quite some time now.  We are nearly finished cutting out old parts and getting ready to fit him up with some new ones.  Other than that, not much else has been happening.

This coming weekend i'm going to Virginia for the Oasis Chorale spring rehearsal.  That should be lots of fun!  Oasis is doing a eastern US and Canada tour this year.  If you get a chance to come listen to us, please do!  You can probably check out the schedule on the website.  (www.OasisChorale.com)

The other day my dog had seven puppies.  So If anyone wants to buy one just give me a shout!

I might post some pics of the jeep later.  Some of them are a bit graphic with the surgery and all.  lol.  I went to a 4x4 truck show this weekend.  That will bring out the redneck in anyone.  The monster trucks were kinda cool.  Really loud though.  Well, I gotta run!  ttyl

Hello peoples!  Today I have decided to do a post on  my good buddy Julius. Now for those of you who don't know Julius, he is a Jeep.  To be more specific, he is a 1972 CJ-5 with a 350 Chevy V-8, a fiberglass tub, a four inch lift, and 33X15.5X50 Super Swampers.  He is pretty nice.  Well back in July we loaded him up onto a trailer along with several ATVs and headed down to Murphy, North Carolina to a place called Tellico Off-Road Park.  For those of you not familiar with off-roading, it is the sport of trying to break your vehicle to pieces by taking it over extremely rough terrain.  I was successful!  Although we did have some great fun doing it.  Here are several pictures of our weekend.

Here is the truck and trailer we took down.

I just put this winch and new bumper on before we went.

No comment needed!

Lots of fun!

The green Jeep is belongs to my brother.  He decided he was going to take a little different route.  He got stuck.  So I had to winch him off.  Then he did it again.  I winched him off the second time.  He got stuck the third time.  I left him sit.  I'm not sure if he is home yet.  Some people never learn!

This is a little test to see how much flex Julius has.  Not too bad!

Julius did suffer some minor injuries.  He has still not fully recovered.  But hopefully soon his owner will take the time to work on him.  ttyl

Hello everyone.  The other night, we had a thunderstorm.  I have never tried taking pictures of lightning before so I thought I would give it a shot.  I was surprised!  And I was amazed!  Lightning is really cool!  I wish there would be some way to harness all that energy.  Here are four of the two hundred some pictures I took.

You will notice on the last three pictures, you can see the moon.  How often do you get lightning and the moon on the same picture?

Ever since the beginning of time (at least my time)  a little red barn has stood just off the driveway.  Over the years it has weathered quite a bit.  Many rabbits and various other critters have made a home under it.  It has been kind to some animals and cruel to others as evident from the two skeletons found underneath the barn.  Because this barn is older than me, it has been falling apart.  One could actually see grass growing on the inside.  So we (we, being me) decided it was time for it to be torn down.  My boss hauled it back to our woods where we have a big trash pile.  Well, last night, it went up in smoke, and lots of it too!  Here are some pictures of it.

As you probably already figured out, it was a bit on the warm side.  The corn on the other side of the driveway which was about sixty to seventy feet away, was wilted and shriveled up.  The heat was intense!  While I was standing there with sweat pouring down my face from the intense heat, I had to wonder if this is how hot hell would be.  I don't ever want to find out.  Thanks to God, I won't have to find out.  Gotta run!

Until next time,

tony

Sacred Treasures: Choral Masterworks From Russia

Hello people!  I have returned to the land of my birthplace!  Ok, I'm home again.  I was gone for about ten days.  I was touring with the Oasis Chorale.  Sometimes when I am away from home for a period of time, I get tired of living out of a suitcase.  This trip was quite the opposite!  I was picked up by the tour bus on Thursday, June 19, at three o'clock in the morning.  That part of the trip is still a bit fuzzy so I don't remember much about that.  We arrived in Kansas around 9:00 PM Thursday evening.  We practiced all day Friday, and half the day Saturday.  After lunch, we headed out for Colorado.  We arrived at New Horizons about 10:30 PM Saturday night.  Here are some pictures I took on the way to Colorado.

The sunset was just awesome!

To relieve boredom, Kendra read us a story.  Now please notice the name of the book.  The story is about a grandpa who lost his false teeth.  The story never does say what happened to them, but I am very suspicious that they were stolen.  Who did it?  Well just look at the picture and you might agree with me.

On Tuesday, we went to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.  Just as we got there, a rain storm moved in.  Here is a really cool picture of the clouds

On Wednesday, twenty-one brave souls walked down the street to a little shop where they sell trips of what some people would call sheer terror.  But it's really not that bad.  We went white-water rafting.  What a thrill!  Due the massive amounts of water and spray, I couldn't take my camera along so I don't have any pictures.  Let me paint you a mental picture.  Seven people in a fourteen foot raft.  Everyone is equipped with a helmet, a life vest, and armed with a paddle.  As you near the rapids, you begin to question your sanity.  You look for options, but there are none!  The guide screams "FORWARD" and you begin beating the boiling water with your paddle.  As you are sucked into the rapids, a wall of water rises in front of you.  At times like this you think, "Will I be washed overboard and sucked down and crushed? Will I make it out alive?  What have I done in life that really counts?"  The wall of fifty-degree water crashes down on you with tremendous force taking away your breath.  Then it's over with!  You made it!  You glance around at the other victims in the raft to see if they are still clinging on.  Then everyone raises their paddles and shouts victory!  What a thrill!  If you have never tried it, you must!

Thursday and Friday evening we went to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart to record.  Because this church is in the middle of Pueble, Colorado, we had to record late into the night to cut down on the traffic noise.  Each night we recorded till about twelve thirty.

A very beautiful church with amazing acoustics!

Here is Wendall listening to one of our takes

One of my favorite pictures from the tour was taken during a practice of the skit some of the people did for children's class.  Frank, you were excellent!

On this tour, we mainly sang in prisons.  I had never been in one before.  I thoroughly enjoyed it!  You actually get a response from the people unlike you do in some of the Mennonite churches.  I think we could all take a lesson from that.  I had a great time and I wish we could have toured much longer.  For me, it was an oasis.

ps  I'd like to give out a shout to my good buddy Cliff from Kansas.  I enjoyed talking with you again!

What is one superstition that you always abide by?

It's bad luck to be superstitious!
